I ordered this from Amazon for $349, and see that it has increased $100 since then. This new price may have influenced my decision to purchase, since I chose it over the Submission Master Dummy (which seems to be the gold standard) based on price in the first place. Now they cost the same at $449. According to the UPS shipping label, the package shipped at a weight of 65lbs. Though this is plenty of dead weight for me, note it is 10lbs less than the Ring to Cage's advertised 75lbs. Though I have only had it for a week, I am confident in the "Made in Pakistan" materials to include the cordura skin, stitching, and thick bungee cords across the arms to allow them to snap back in position after a technique. I bought this for Gi BJJ, and found that an A2 fit over it pretty well, but was short on the legs and torso, so it probably does equate to an oddly proportioned 6 foot opponent. Different from the Submission Master Dummy (by the website anyway), is that the head of the reviewed Ring... After surgery for a torn rotator cuff then a herniated L5/S1 disk, my surgeon recommended I hang up my jiu jitsu purple belt. Since then I've shifted my training to mainly standup but felt my grappling skills were slipping due to lack of use. After reading several online reviews of different grappling dummies ranging in price from $300 - $500, I bit the bullet and ordered a grappling dummy from Ring to Cage. I've been using it to drill basic submissions from the bottom (armbars, triangles, kimuras) which can be done in quick succession for as many repetitions as desired. It's a little awkward at first because it only weighs about 70 lbs but is fairly realistic in terms of ensuring your technique is sound. I'm starting to incorporate sweeps, but after executing a technique you have to stand up, pick up the dummy and set in back into a usable position. This doesn't allow for a lot of quick repetition but is in itself a bit of a workout in having to move the dead weight. In the few... The quality of this dummy was better than i expected, its 65 pounds in weight, which is more than enough as it is dead weight. I can bench press 200 pounds for reps and still find it difficult to move this thing around. I purchased it to take my Brazilian Juijitsu practice to a whole new level, the aquisition of muscle memmory via repetition is paramount so that the body can move in auto pilot so to speak, so you can free up your mind for strategy. |
